Winterslow Neighbourhood Watch

Alderbury Neighbourhood Policing Team have recently completed a review of their Neighbourhood Watch records and it was clear that many schemes were out of date or dormant. For this reason it was decided to revive the schemes across all twelve villages covered by Alderbury NPT, Winterslow being the first to be revived.

Area Co-ordinator is Mrs Pam Robinson –  email magspam3@aol.com

The following roads are now covered by co-ordinators:

Yarmley Lane, Highfield Crescent, Lopcombe Corner, Gunville Hill, Witt Road, Saxonleas, Weavers Close, Weston Lane, Shripple Lane, Pincroft Lane, part of Tytherley Road, and Stone Close.

However there are still some roads which need co-ordinators for the scheme to be fully functional. These are: Woodland Drive, The Flashett, The Causeway, The Flood, Livery Road, Youngs Paddock, Kings Paddock, and Clough Lane – if anyone would be willing to volunteer to cover one of these areas we would be very grateful. It is not too time consuming, but ideally you need to have access to an email address and printer in order to be able to receive the bulletins and print them out for distribution to your members.

If you are interested in finding out more about co-ordinators in your road, or to volunteer, then please contact Pam Robinson either by telephone or email.

There have been several reports from various sources that a Security Company called Sureshield/Brute Force Security, is currently targetting Areas in Wiltshire and surrounding Forces

They will target people in their 80's and tie them to a 5 year contract instead of 3. They will infer connections to Neighbourhood Watch, Group Four Security, Police, Age Concern. They will offer a "free security system", which is actually free but the client will pay up to £2000 extra for that during the rest of their contract.

They are associated with Direct Response Security, and St Johns Security, which latter is currently being investigated by Trading Standards at Bristol, both are companies that Regional Forces have had serious problems in the past

It is illegal for them to offer police-monitored alarm systems in Wiltshire as they are not an accredited or authorised to do so in this County. Additionally this Wiltshire Police will reject any applications from them.

Anyone thinking about signing with these should be strongly advised not to but should initially contact the Alarms manager, Wiltshire Police on 01 380 734118. for advice and who holds a list of accredited alarm companies

Anyone visited by this company is also requested to contact :
